A significiant amount of War of 1812 History here, most notably the Battle of Plattsburgh. This county is at the most northpart of the district, bordering Canada. This county was one of the last Democratic counties in Up-state New York, flipping Red for Donald Trump, the first time Since 1998.

Essex County:

Lake Placid is located in this county, incuding Fort Ticonderoga.

Franklin County:

County Relies on tourism assoicated with the Adironack Mountains. There is a large amount of logging History here.

Fulton County:

Glove production is strongest here, additionally this county produces a large amount of leather and dairy farming is relevant

GOP Nominee: Dan Stec

Incumbent State Senator from NY-45

And used to be a NY Assemblyman from NY-118

Senator Stec has earned his stripes in the trenches in this district, and has solid relationships with necessary important people (like the GOP County Chairs)

This being said, his solid name ID makes him a solid candidate for the Republicans in this district

DEM Nominee: Blake Gendebien

Never held public office prior

Is a dairy farmer, which is a common occupation among constituents within the district

Other likely Democratic candidates have previously ran for this seat and defeated in prior elections, while Gendebien is a fresh candidate, offering voters a new Democratic nominee

This being said, his biggest weaknesses will be name ID and fundraising, and will have to raise a significant amount of funds to be competitive
